Despite assurances and a detailed press conference by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Wednesday, protests flared in Rawalpindi in response to an alleged assault on a female student at Lahore Punjab College.
The incident prompted students to surround the college building on Sixth Road, throw stones and block the road leading from Siddiqi Chowk to Sixth Road.
The protest resulted in significant traffic congestion, with vehicles backed up for extended distances. The college administration promptly notified the local police of the developing situation to address the unrest and manage the crowd effectively.
