Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz orders suspension of Central Jail Mianwali superintendent for Misuse of Authority
Acting on directives from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Superintendent of Central Jail Mianwali has been suspended due to allegations of misuse of authority. An extensive inquiry into the matter has been ordered, with a directive to complete the report within one month.
The decision comes after detailed evaluations and has led to the superintendent’s 90-day suspension under Section 6 of the PEEDA Act 2006. The charges include incompetence, negligence, and misuse of authority. During the suspension, the superintendent’s responsibilities have been delegated to Deputy Superintendent (Development) Sohail Safdar Khan, a 17th-grade officer.
In addition to the Superintendent’s suspension, the names of four other jail superintendents and two deputy superintendents have been added to a blacklist, signalling a broader crackdown on corruption and misuse of authority within the department. These individuals will remain under close scrutiny, and based on the outcomes of the inquiry, further legal action may be pursued.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption and has assured that strict measures will be taken against any officials guilty of misusing their powers. This move is part of a larger effort to uphold integrity and accountability in public offices throughout the province.
