The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) at Karachi Airport prevented Mah Rang Baloch, a prominent leader of the Baloch Unity Committee, from travelling internationally.
Dr. Mah Rang Baloch, who has been actively involved in raising awareness about the enforced disappearances of Baloch citizens, intended to attend a globally recognized event hosted by Time Magazine. However, upon her arrival at the airport, FIA officials detained her, confiscated her passport, and delayed her departure for several hours without providing any justification.
In a statement shared on the social media platform X, Dr. Baloch expressed her frustration and confusion over the incident, noting that she had been offloaded from her flight unjustifiably. She emphasized that her name was not listed on the Exit Control List (ECL), which typically restricts individuals from leaving the country.
This incident occurred shortly after Time Magazine honoured Dr Baloch by naming her among the 100 most influential women globally, recognizing her significant contributions to human rights advocacy. Despite this international acknowledgement, the reasons behind her detention at the airport remain unclear, reflecting ongoing challenges faced by activists within the region.
