Apple’s macOS 15 update, also known as macOS Sequoia, rolled out to all users on Monday and has reportedly disrupted several security tools.
According to reports, this recent update has caused malfunctions in network-based security software by Microsoft, CrowdStrike, and others. As the cause remains unidentified, these glitches pose potential risks for businesses relying solely on Mac devices.
TechCrunch has highlighted that the macOS Sequoia update has impaired the functionality of security tools from various providers, including Microsoft, CrowdStrike, and SentinelOne. This issue emerged through discussions in a Mac-focused Slack channel where multiple users voiced their concerns.
Additionally, Gadgets 360 observed various Reddit threads where users reported that security applications ceased functioning post-update. Some users speculated that the disruption could stem from numerous glitches in the new operating system version.
One user criticized the lack of support for these tools despite the availability of developer builds and beta versions, suggesting that there seemed to be no excuse for the oversight unless Apple’s update was significantly flawed.
The concern escalates as many organizations use Mac devices exclusively, and any compromise in security systems could lead to significant vulnerabilities. A CrowdStrike sales engineer noted in the Slack discussions that their tools would not receive support on day one of the update, leaving the current support status unclear.

Moreover, another Reddit user pointed out that the problems extend beyond security tools, affecting nearly 90% of applications on an M1 Max-powered MacBook Pro, including connectivity issues with WiFi, which impact work productivity.
Security researcher Will Dormann also shared on Mastodon that he experienced DNS and firewall issues on his device following the update. Apple has not provided any official statement on when these issues might be resolved.
