Lawyer and top legal expert Barrister Abdul Hafeez Pirzada has passed away in London after a brief illness on Wednesday.
Pirzada was one of the founders of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and close associate of former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
In his last and final case Pirzada represented PTI against electoral rigging in general elections 2013.
Pirzada was also elected as member of National Assembly in 1970 and remained education minister in 1971 and federal finance minister in 1977.
Pirzada played a vital role in drafting the 1973 Constitution as law minister.
He belonged to a prominent Sindhi family. His father, Pirzada Abdus Sattar was a former Chief Minister of Sindh.
Hafeez obtained LLB degree from Karachi University, followed by LLM from Sindh University.
Pirzada also got MSc Political Science degree with a brief thesis on Soviet Union and the rise of Communism.
Pirzada began his professional career at Sindh High Court.
Later on, he began his political career in the PPP as Bhutto’s legal adviser and climbed up the ladder of fame with his advice and consultations to Bhutto over legal issues.
