Even though LeBron James didn’t play for the Los Angeles Lakers against the Golden State Warriors at Chase Center on Saturday, he was still one of the day’s highlights for young fans.
James, who is 38, missed his second straight game after becoming the NBA’s all-time scoring leader because his left knee hurt. The 11-year-old girl told ESPN’s Lisa Salters that she asked for court tickets three months ago in the hopes that James would break the scoring record at the Chase Center.
Even though James had made history a few days before the game against the Oklahoma City Thunder at Crypto.com Arena, the 11-year-old fan was still excited to see his favorite player on the court. When she learned that James was hurt, the yards seemed too much, especially since she couldn’t find him.
James came over and sat down next to her, which surprised her. Then, the girl’s brother sat next to her and took a picture of how she felt.
Her shocked face went viral on Twitter immediately, leading to an interview with ESPN. Salter kept looking at James while he talked to the young fan, but James kept his eyes on the court. After being shocked at first, he greeted the young fan and posed for pictures with him after the game.
