In an unfortunate turn of events, Shariq Jamal, Lahore’s Deputy Inspector General (DIG), was found deceased in his private residence in the DHA neighbourhood.
According to police, his lifeless body was discovered in his private apartment 104/A. DIG Shariq Jamal Khan’s body was swiftly transported to the National Hospital after the distressing discovery. However, it was later moved to Jinnah Hospital for a post-mortem examination. As the news of the untimely demise spread, an immediate investigation was triggered to examine the circumstances that led to this tragic event.
A group of dedicated police officers hurried to the hospital site, taking up the responsibility of personally supervising the investigation’s progress. The apartment where the late DIG resided falls under the jurisdiction of the Nishtar police station, while the Defence-A police station oversees his residential area in phase-4.
In the wake of the unfortunate event, a case was promptly registered based on the statement provided by the deceased DIG’s widow.
Shariq Jamal Khan served as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) at his demise. His illustrious career includes commendable tenures at DIG Traffic and DIG Railways. He had recently returned home after completing a departmental promotion course for Grade 21.
