A recently inaugurated road project of Ada Plot to Multan Road on Lahore’s Ring Road by Punjab’s Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has demonstrated structural failures following its first exposure to rainfall.

Punjab’s Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, inaugurated the road on May 24 and began to collapse in parts just one and a half months later.

Inaugurated Southern Loop of Lahore Ring Road. We have completed it in less than 3 months Alhamdolillah. It will be toll free for the people for the next 30 days. Enjoy. pic.twitter.com/mG1OpqeqZZ

Journalists reporting on social media noted that the section from Ada Plot to Multan Road on Lahore’s Ring Road Loop Three was particularly affected, with one side of the road noticeably sinking. This incident marks the first major infrastructure challenge for Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s government.

Additionally, journalists observed that several light poles along the road had been uprooted, suggesting that the soil underneath might not have been adequately compacted during construction.

The structural failures have raised concerns about the overall quality and durability of the construction work on this critical transport link.
