Justice Asjad Javed Ghural of the Lahore High Court has issued a charge sheet against administrative authorities, citing systemic failures and deliberate obstructions in the case involving Sanam Javed’s repeated detentions.
In his detailed judgment, Justice Ghural of the Lahore High Court highlighted that repeatedly arresting Javed after her release was a direct attempt to undermine the efficiency and integrity of the judicial system.
The judgment noted that Sanam Javed had been targeted multiple times for the same allegations, which indicated malintent. Despite her being incarcerated, the Deputy Commissioners of Lahore and Gujranwala issued further detention orders, an action that Justice Ghural criticized as unnecessary and vindictive.
The court expressed its capacity for severe disciplinary actions against the Deputy Commissioners but opted for restraint to maintain judicial decorum and integrity. Justice Ghural emphasized the expectation that such officials will better adhere to court orders in the future, reflecting a commitment to judicial respect and procedural compliance.
Moreover, Justice Ghural urged courts responsible for granting physical remand to keep constitutionally guaranteed fundamental rights at the forefront of their decisions, reinforcing the judiciary’s role in upholding legal standards and human rights.
