Clerics in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) issued a fatwa against terrorists and terror activities, targeting the state’s police and military ‘Haraam’ (forbidden) Islamic law.
As terrorism reemerges in Pakistan after the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) ceasefire ended in November 2022, scholars from KP have spoken out against terrorists and terror activities.
The clerics from Darul Uloom Peshawar, Jamia Darul Uloom Haqqania, Al Madaris, Al-Madaris Al-Arabiya, Rabat Al-Madaris, Al-Madaris Al alafiya, Al-Madaris Al-Shia Association, Jamia Al-Quran Education, and Ulama Council of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have also condemned terrorism.
The Fatwa issued by clerics from the province where most terrorist attacks occurred last year states that only the head of the Islamic state can declare Jihad (Holy War).
The Fatwa states that not everyone can declare Jihad, avoid the law, and operate against the state that is against Shariah laws.
The Fatwa also states that arming the police and military personnel is against Sharia and the state, and anyone who rebels against Pakistan’s constitution and laws will be punished.
