Construction has commenced on transforming the Swiss residence of the iconic screen legend Charlie Chaplin into a museum, which is anticipated to open in early 2016.
The project’s promoters announced on Wednesday and provided a tour of the picturesque location in the village of Corsier-sur-Vevey.
The museum will encompass the expansive white manor where Chaplin lived during the last 25 years, offering stunning views over Lake Geneva. This historic home and the surrounding parkland will form the core of the new museum complex. The project aims to preserve and celebrate the legacy of Chaplin’s cinematic achievements and his personal life in Switzerland.
The initiative is designed to provide an immersive experience into Charlie Chaplin’s life and work, ensuring that his contributions to the film industry and artistic legacy continue to inspire future generations. The museum will feature exhibits on his classic films, personal memorabilia, interactive displays, and insights into his creative process and humanitarian efforts.
This development honours Chaplin’s memory and promises to enhance the cultural landscape of Corsier-sur-Vevey, turning it into a destination for cinema enthusiasts and tourists worldwide.
