The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has announced a plan to double the allowances for tehsil chairmen and mayors across the province.
Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has directed the relevant authorities to prepare amendments to the act governing development grants and to allocate budgetary funds for the increased allowances of local government officials. Additionally, providing official vehicles to local government representatives is part of these new measures.
Chief Minister Gandapur emphasized his commitment to securing provincial rights from the central government, highlighting that enhanced financial support from the federation would also benefit local government bodies. He called for administrative support and swift action to facilitate the delivery of vehicles to local representatives.
Acknowledging the current financial constraints, Gandapur urged local government representatives to support his efforts to secure more rights and resources from the federation. He stressed that political leaders understand the rights of elected officials and are actively working to claim these rights.
Further underlining the importance of the local government system, Chief Minister Gandapur declared that, under Imran Khan’s vision, his administration is committed to strengthening this system through significant legal and administrative reforms. These reforms aim to enhance service delivery and improve civic amenities at the community level, ensuring that the local government system effectively resolves the issues the populace faces.
Chief Minister Gandapur concluded by reaffirming his respect for the mandate of all parties, indicating a collaborative approach to governance in line with democratic principles.
