Prominent members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Khusro Bakhtiar and Ali Haider Zaidi, the party’s President in Sindh, have officially announced their decision to withdraw from their party roles.
Khusro Bakhtiar has publicly announced his withdrawal from key positions within the party. Bakhtiar has attributed this decision to reevaluating his affiliation with the PTI’s ideology, largely influenced by the “May 9 incidents”.
In a video, he conveyed his decision to resign from crucial roles, including his position on the core committee and his presidency of the South Punjab chapter of PTI. Bakhtiar strongly emphasized that the events on May 9 prompted him to establish a degree of separation between himself and the PTI party.
In tandem with Bakhtiar, Ali Haider Zaidi, the PTI’s Sindh President, has also declared his decision to withdraw from politics and resign from his roles within the PTI party. Labeling this as a “difficult decision”, Zaidi mentioned that he reached this conclusion after serious and prolonged deliberation.
In his video message, Zaidi asserted his commitment to serving Pakistan, underlining that his initial reason for entering the political arena was to contribute to the nation’s betterment. Zaidi did not refrain from commenting on the May 9 incidents, firmly condemning them as inappropriate. He stated that those responsible for these events should be held accountable, regardless of their identity or status.
Further, he emphasized the vital role of the Pakistan Army in the country’s security. Zaidi expressed his belief that the Pakistan Army is a pillar of the nation’s pride, acknowledging the peace and security they provide by safeguarding its borders.
Zaidi added, “I have chosen to withdraw from politics after deep consideration. Consequently, I will also be resigning from all positions I currently hold within the PTI, including my role as a Member of the National Assembly (MNA) and as a member of the core committee.”
In conclusion, Zaidi reiterated his dedication to serving Pakistan and his commitment to attracting foreign investments. He ended his address with a strong declaration of support for the Pakistan Army and the country with the phrase “Pakistan Army Zindabad, Pakistan Zindabad.”
