As Eidul Adha nears, buyers from various parts of Karachi converge on the city’s largest temporary cattle market at the Northern Bypass.
Karachi Northern Bypass Cattle Market has begun receiving sacrificial animals from diverse regions, including Sindh, KPK, Punjab and Balochistan.
The cattle market management has reported that specialized sheds are being set up in the VIP blocks, which are also starting to receive high-breed cattle. These VIP blocks are designed to offer a conducive environment for the cattle and convenient facilities for the buyers.
To ensure the security of the visitors, police personnel and patrolling vehicles have been stationed along the main access routes to the market, including temporary checkpoints. Enhanced patrolling covers areas from Surjani to SITE Super Highway and Gulshan-e-Maymar, Ahsanabad, providing citizens with round-the-clock security.
The market setup is complete, with various amenities, such as cabins and stalls offering hotel food, beverages, cold drinks, and other items. For heightened security, 500 police officers across three security levels have been deployed at the Northern Bypass Cattle Market.
In addition to police presence, Rangers personnel are also on duty, and traffic routes and internal market areas are being monitored via security cameras. Additionally, the street lighting system on major roads leading to the market, including those in Gulshan-e-Maymar and Gadap, is being improved to facilitate safe night-time travel.
