The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicts moderate to heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, with temperatures ranging from 32 °C to 34 °C. Additionally, another monsoon system is expected to affect Sindh later in July.
Light rain affected several areas, including the airport, Malir, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Shah Faisal, North Karachi, New Karachi, Surjani Town, Gulshan-e-Maymar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, II Chundrigar Road, PIDC, Saddar, and Burns Road. The highest recorded rainfall was 2.3 mm on University Road, followed by 2 mm at the airport, PAF Base Faisal, and Gulshan-e-Hadeed. Korangi and Jinnah Terminal received 1.4 mm of rainfall, while Keamari and Surjani Town experienced 0.2 mm.

The Sindh government cancelled local holidays and activated emergency measures to address drainage issues in vulnerable areas. Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon confirmed arrangements to manage rainwater swiftly.

Nationwide, monsoon rains have caused devastation. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) reports 202 deaths (including 96 children) and over 560 injuries from June 26 to July 17, 2025. Punjab saw 123 fatalities, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 40, Sindh 21, Balochistan 16, Islamabad and Azad Jammu and Kashmir one each. Causes include 118 house collapses, 30 flash floods, drowning, lightning, electrocution, and landslides.
The PMD notes the current system over southwestern Uttar Pradesh, India, moving toward Rajasthan, potentially bringing heavy rain to Sindh districts, including Karachi, by Friday night. Meteorologists closely monitor the trajectory for the impacts on southern Pakistan.
