The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) said on Saturday that the price of a 20-kilogram bag of flour in Karachi has risen to Rs2,500 from Rs2,400 the previous week.
According to the Sensitive Price Index for the week ending December 22, 1 kilogram of flour now costs Rs125 in Karachi, about 100 percent higher than in Islamabad and Punjab. It is the first time in Pakistan’s history that flour prices have reached Rs2,500.
The data indicates that the price of a 20kg bag of flour has increased by Rs100 in Karachi, Hyderabad, and Quetta over the past week, climbing to Rs2,500, Rs2,420, and Rs2,320, correspondingly. It is the first time in Pakistan’s history that flour prices have reached Rs2,500.
In Bannu, Peshawar, Larkana, and Sukkur, prices rose by 40 rupees, 70 rupees, 50 rupees, and 40 rupees, respectively.
The price of a 20-kilogram bag of flour in Islamabad and Punjab is currently Rs1,295.
