The Pakistan Meteorological Department reported today’s maximum temperature in Karachi reached 38°C. They expect the warm spell to persist until Sunday.
Karachi, the country’s financial centre, has been experiencing intense heat. Forecasts indicate temperatures may hover between 37°C and 39°C over the next few days.
According to the Met Office, Karachi will face hot and dry winds from the north and northwest during the day. However, they anticipate a drop in temperature by the week’s end, starting October 27, due to the resumption of sea breezes.
The forecast across most of the country remains mainly dry today. However, isolated areas in the upper regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan, Kashmir, and the Pothohar region may see cloudy skies with occasional rain-wind and thunderstorms.
Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz noted yesterday the likelihood of rain in October and November remains low. He anticipates the onset of winter but does not expect unusually cold temperatures nationwide.
He also mentioned that Islamabad and northern regions are beginning to experience colder nights, marking the start of the pre-winter season.
