Justice Athar Minallah noted that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s imprisoned leader, Imran Khan, wants to appear in person for this case.
“If he wishes to appear, the necessary arrangements should be made. He can also be allowed to appear via video link,” Minalla remarked in the NAB amendments case, briefly adjourning the hearing for five minutes.
The Supreme Court is hearing intra-court appeals against the annulment of the NAB amendments.
Justice Athar Minallah remarked that Imran Khan wishes to assist the court personally. Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa stated that if Khan wanted to represent himself, the jail superintendent should take the necessary steps.
Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa further commented that any party can be represented through lawyers, emphasizing that this is a matter of law, not individual preference.
“In my opinion, Imran Khan is the petitioner in the NAB amendments case. If he wants to appear, the arrangements should be made. How can we deny him access to the court?” remarked Justice Athar Minallah.
