Sindh’s local journalist Nasrullah Gadani, who was critically injured in a shooting near Mirpur Mathelo, Ghotki district, passed away on Friday morning in a hospital in Karachi, succumbing to serious gunshot wounds sustained during an attack last Tuesday.
The attack occurred while Gadani was travelling from home to the Mirpur Mathelo Press Club. Armed assailants in a car opened fire on him at Jarwar Road near Deen Shah and subsequently fled the scene.
Following the incident, Gadani was initially treated at Mirpur Mathelo DHQ Hospital before being transferred to Rahim Yar Khan’s Sheikh Zayed Medical College Hospital. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was moved to Aga Khan Hospital in Karachi on Wednesday.
Gadani was a respected figure in journalism. He was known for his courageous reporting against local feudal lords, political figures, and government officials. His work was published in a Sindhi newspaper and shared on social media.
His death has deeply affected the journalist community, which has expressed profound sorrow and grief. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah lamented the loss, stating that despite the government’s efforts to provide immediate medical care, including an air ambulance transfer from Rahim Yar Khan to Karachi, Gadani could not be saved.
“I share in the deep grief and sorrow of Nasrullah’s family and the media organization he was affiliated with,” the Chief Minister added.
