Jamaat-e-Islami has initiated a call to action against the government’s current wheat procurement policy. Hafiz Naeem ur Rahman, the Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, issued a four-day ultimatum to the government demanding a reversal of its policy, with a stark warning that failure to meet their demands could spark a movement aimed at toppling the government.
During a press conference in Mansoora, Hafiz Naeem ur Rahman articulated the party’s commitment to advocating for farmers’ rights. He outlined a four-day deadline for the government to commence wheat procurement, failing which Jamaat-e-Islami plans to orchestrate a nationwide protest, including a sit-in at the Chief Minister’s House.
Furthermore, Hafiz Naeem ur Rahman disclosed plans to establish protest camps nationwide. These camps will serve as platforms for farmers to air grievances and seek redress. He emphasized the urgent need for the government to purchase all available wheat to prevent severe financial distress among farmers.
Concluding his address, Hafiz Naeem ur Rahman called for the government to swiftly rectify its wheat procurement stance. He warned against attempts to thwart Jamaat-e-Islami’s protest efforts, urging the government to “come to its senses” within the given timeframe.
