Israel employed advanced and specific weaponry in a targeted operation against Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of Hezbollah, shedding light on the sophisticated munitions used.
Israeli media sources report that Israeli forces launched a strike on Hezbollah’s headquarters in Lebanon, which resulted in Nasrallah’s death. At the time of the attack, Nasrallah was on the 14th underground level of the targeted building.
The operation featured 85 bunker-buster bombs targeting Nasrallah’s underground position. Engineers designed each bomb, containing one ton of explosives, to penetrate deep into the ground or through solid concrete. However, deploying such powerful artillery in densely populated areas violates the Geneva Convention.
The Israeli Air Force has various bunker-buster bombs at its disposal, including the GBU-28, GBU-37, and the Massive Ordnance Penetrator GBU-57.
Developed during the 1991 Gulf War, the GBU-28 is a 5,000-pound laser-guided bomb specifically made to destroy enemy bunkers. The GBU-37, equipped with GPS guidance, ensures precise targeting even in adverse weather conditions.

The GBU-57, also known as the MOP, is the heaviest weapon in the U.S. arsenal, weighing 30,000 pounds. It can penetrate up to 200 feet of concrete or reach depths 60 feet underground.
