Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah asked Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan to postpone his “meaningless” long march for the safety of himself and his followers, as all intelligence agencies have issued red alerts due to potential terrorist threats at the PTI gathering in Rawalpindi.
“They have also warned of threats to Imran Khan’s life,” he added at a press conference, urging the PTI chairman to engage in conversation with the government rather than threaten it.
“When politicians meet and converse, the ice is broken, and decisions are altered. In the past 7-8 months, I have personally witnessed this. Some judgments were made, but my leaders altered them.”
The minister stated that if Khan continues to act in the same manner, the country will be unable to progress because the government and PTI will remain at an impasse.
Interior Minister presided over an important meeting to review the law and order situation in Rawalpindi prior to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s long march.
State Minister for Interior Affairs Abdul Rehman Kanjo, the interior secretary, the IG of the Islamabad police, the commissioner of Islamabad, and representatives of the security agencies are present at the meeting.
The conference examined the law and order situation prior to tomorrow’s planned PTI long march in Rawalpindi.
During his address, Rana Sanaulalh encouraged the federating units to join forces with the federal government to thwart any attempt to impose absolute rule during the PTI’s lengthy march.
Rana Sanaullah, minister of the interior, also instructed the chief secretaries to guarantee no government workers were involved in the federation’s ascension.
