Instagram has launched a new feature in collaboration with US-based singer and actress Sabrina Carpenter.
The feature, named ‘profile song,’ enables users to personalize their profiles by selecting a track that reflects their mood or preferences. This track appears under their bio. For its debut, Instagram is featuring a teaser of Sabrina Carpenter’s new song, “Taste,” from her upcoming album set for release this Friday.
Song on Profile Feature on Instagram
Instagram announced this feature on X (formerly Twitter), explaining that while the song does not autoplay, users can listen to a 30-second clip by tapping the music icon on their profile. The feature is available across all consumer and creator accounts and can be set by:
- Navigate to “Edit profile” on your Profile tab.
- Tapping “Add music to your profile.”
- Searching for a song or browsing the recommended “For You” section.
- Selecting a song and specifying the clip duration for the profile, up to 30 seconds.
This feature is currently available on Instagram for Android, as confirmed by Gadgets 360 staff, though it was not yet accessible on iOS at the time of announcement.
Other New Instagram Features
Building on its array of media-related enhancements, Instagram also introduced a multi-audio tracks feature in July. This allows users to add up to 20 tracks to a single Instagram Reel, align the audio with text, and edit the Reel with various creative tools like stickers and clips.
Users can create fade effects and overlap audio clips, with the mixed creation saved and attributed to the original creator. This mixed track can then be utilized by other users as well.
