Contradictions between police statements and actual footage raise questions about the handling of a prisoner van attack in Islamabad.
According to a press release, the police stated that individuals in four trucks orchestrated an attack on prisoner vans. However, video footage from the scene does not show any trucks involved in the incident.
The police reported that gunfire caused the tyres of the vehicles to burst. In contrast, the footage indicates that the shooting occurred after the prisoner vans had passed and consisted of shots fired into the air.
No substantial evidence was found at the scene except for shattered windows. There were no police officers present, traffic flowed normally, and the prisoner vans had already been removed from the location.

Questions remain regarding the police’s actions, especially why suspects were being transferred back to jail after a court had already discharged them, suggesting a possible case of interference in government duties.
Further complicating the issue, the police quickly cleared all evidence from the scene at the Sangjani Toll Plaza, where no police officers or personnel were present, contrary to official statements. Reports that all Station House Officers (SHOs) had arrived at the plaza were also incorrect. These discrepancies have raised concerns about the handling of the incident and the transparency of the police’s actions.
