The Supreme Court received a report detailing the conditions of Imran Khan, PTI Chairman, in Attock jail since his August 5 imprisonment for a three-year sentence in the Toshakhana case. Ordered by the apex court, the report reveals:
- Khan resides in a secure High Observation Block with adjacent empty barracks.
- His renovated cell measures 9×11 feet, with enhanced facilities such as a whitewashed wall, ceiling fan, and a fibre door. The washroom has been expanded to 7×4 feet.
- Khan has amenities like a new branded commode, a large mirror, a Muslim shower, an air cooler, and a 21-inch LED TV for his comfort.
- He can stroll outside his cell and access a Quran with English translation, 25 Islamic history books, and a newspaper.
- His cell and washroom are regularly cleaned, and he’s provided with clothes-washing services.
- Khan’s family and lawyers are allowed weekly visits.
- His meals include diverse dishes, including desi chicken and mutton, as per his preferences.
- Enhanced security measures are in place, with 53 jail personnel from Punjab ensuring his safety and 24/7 surveillance, excluding his cell’s interior for privacy.
- Multiple electricity sources guarantee an uninterrupted power supply in his cell.
The facilities affirm Khan’s status as a “better class prisoner” and ensure his well-being during incarceration.
