A sessions court judge in Islamabad dismissed Imran Khan’s request for the exception owing to security concerns; the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader may be subject to another arrest order without bail.
After inflammatory remarks regarding Additional Sessions, Judge Zeba Chaudhry, the PTI leader, faced legal difficulties.
Even though the Islamabad High Court later stated that it was satisfied with Imran’s attempt to apologize to the judge and retracted its show-cause notice in October, Islamabad Civil and Sessions Senior Judge Rana Mujahid Rahim issued a show-cause notice to the PTI leader in December after the police presented their charge sheet in the case.
Today, the court issued a summons to the leader of the PTI, requesting that he provide copies of the case. The hearing’s presiding judge, Judge Rana, dismissed Imran’s attorney’s request for an exemption from appearance due to security concerns.
The judge stated, “An arrest warrant without bail will be issued for Imran if he fails to appear in court today during business hours.”
The court then took a break till 12:30.
Note that the court dismissed the prosecution’s pleas to issue arrest warrants for Imran and granted him medical leave.
In February, however, a different judge from a lower court in the nation’s capital issued an arrest order without bail for the former leader in the Toshakhana case. When Imran appeared before the Islamabad High Court on the same day, his appeal to missing a hearing due to sickness had already been denied.
The judge observed in the verdict that Imran could have appeared in this court on February 28 because he had appeared in other courts, but he chose not to.
