Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has called for a march on Islamabad on 24 November. His sister, Aleema Khan, confirmed this is a final call for PTI supporters to join the protest.
After meeting with Imran Khan at Adiala Jail, Aleema Khan spoke to the media. She quoted her brother: “On February 8, you sparked a revolution. You took to the streets to exercise your constitutional right and challenge the elite.
Aleema Khan also mentioned Imran Khan’s concerns about losing judicial independence. He reportedly said, “The freedom of the Supreme Court has been taken away.”
Imran Khan’s lawyer, Faisal Chaudhry, spoke outside the jail. He confirmed that a committee had been set up to organize the Islamabad march, but he refused to reveal the members’ names, fearing their arrest. Chaudhry said the march will not be limited to Islamabad. Protests will also take place across Pakistan and internationally.
Chaudhry added that the protests will continue until PTI’s demands are met. These demands include the reversal of the 26th Amendment, the restoration of PTI’s mandate, and the release of people detained without trial. Chaudhry also said that PTI leadership will join the protests. A committee will decide when to end the protest based on the government’s response.
According to Imran Khan’s instructions, Ali Amin Gandapur will lead a caravan from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, Advisor to the Chief Minister, said preparations for the protests are already underway. Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur is overseeing the arrangements.
Saif claimed that Imran Khan’s final call would end the coalition government. He said that once the protest begins, it will strike a blow to the “fake” government. Saif accused the government of panicking, citing the recent arrests of PTI officials.
Saif promised that the protests would uphold constitutional order, repeal false charges, and demand accountability from those who allegedly stole PTI’s mandate.
