Imran Khan, incarcerated at Adiala Jail, has called for an apology from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on social media platform X, criticising the cypher case in which the Islamabad High Court acquitted him.
In his post, Khan stated, “The FIA owes me an apology for pursuing a groundless accusation, such as the cipher case, before any further investigations.”
He added that during his tenure as Prime Minister, he issued a formal protest to the U.S. to defend Pakistan’s sovereignty and shared these actions openly with his citizens.
Khan emphasized, “We are a proud, sovereign nation that rejects external meddling in our affairs.” He alleged that the cipher was intended to overthrow his government and was directed at General Bajwa.
Khan accused General Bajwa of conspiring with corrupt figures to extend his command, undermining the nation.
Despite being behind bars, Khan took responsibility for his social media posts on the Hamoodur Rahman Commission Report. However, he admitted that if he hadn’t previewed the video content shared, he slightly would have adjusted it to enhance its impact.
The Hamoodur Rahman Commission Report report delves into the failures and individuals involved in a pivotal national catastrophe, aiming to educate on past errors.
In discussing the report, Khan critiqued General Yahya Khan’s political decisions, including disregarding advice from General Yaqub and Admiral Ahsan, who resigned in protest against East Pakistan’s military actions.
He argued that the constitution mandates the military’s non-involvement in politics to maintain professionalism. Khan pointed out that General Yahya Khan was deeply involved in politics, a stance universally criticized.
He explained that military leaders should remain apolitical, noting Yahya Khan’s failure to transfer power led to national division and tragedy.
The situation worsened, leading to a split in the country, a consequence of ignoring the electoral mandate. Khan lamented the heavy toll on Pakistan and its military due to Yahya Khan’s political entanglements.
Drawing parallels between past and present crises, Khan expressed concern over the current economic devastation and the unsuccessful efforts to revitalize it through initiatives like the SIFC. He criticized suppressing the country’s largest party, calling it detrimental to economic recovery.
Khan demanded an FIA investigation into the abduction of Azhar Mashwani’s brothers and denounced the harassment of social media activists, whom he described as national assets.
He stressed that economic recovery hinges on respecting the electoral mandate and entrusting decision-making to elected officials.
