Inspector General of Islamabad Police, Ali Nasir Zaidi, disclosed startling developments in a 2022 case. The case involved a tragic accident where two young men lost their lives due to a collision with a Land Cruiser.
In a recent session at the Islamabad High Court, presided over by Chief Justice Aamir Farooq, the IG Islamabad informed the court that the police investigation had been stagnant initially, but significant progress was made in the past one and a half months. New video footage obtained by the police revealed that a woman drove the Land Cruiser and was part of the Quaid-e-Azam Thermal Project fleet.
At the time of the accident, it was used by the family of Justice Malik Shehzad Ahmed and had been dispatched to the Lahore High Court via the Home Department.
IG Zaidi emphasized that the investigation is nearing completion, marking a critical phase of breakthroughs.
In a related turn of events, Rafaaqat Tanoli, the father of one of the deceased, Shakeel Tanoli, initially withdrew his petition from the Islamabad High Court after expressing satisfaction with the ongoing police investigation. However, following a protest the next day, he was detained by the police. Consequently, a petition for his release was submitted to the High Court today, adding complexity to the already intricate case.
