Hudson Meek, a 16-year-old actor recognized for his role in “Baby Driver,” tragically died following an accident involving a moving vehicle in Vestavia Hills, Alabama. Authorities confirmed that on December 19, Meek sustained injuries after falling from the vehicle on a local street. He succumbed to these injuries two days later, as reported by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.
The Vestavia Hills Police Department is currently investigating the circumstances of the incident, though no statements have been issued regarding the accident’s cause.
Last Saturday, Meek’s Instagram account posted a heartfelt message: “Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight. Despite his brief 16 years on earth, he achieved much and profoundly impacted all who knew him.”
The announcement also included details of a December 28 event to celebrate Hudson’s life. Instead of sending flowers, the family mentioned opportunities to support a scholarship fund in his memory at Vestavia Hills High School. The family urges the community to keep them in their prayers during this difficult time.
According to AL.com, the accident occurred on a Thursday night. “Hudson Meek sustained blunt force injuries after falling to the road from a moving vehicle,” Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates reported. After the fall, Meek was hospitalized and passed away on Saturday night.
Hudson Meek gained popularity for portraying a young version of Ansel Elgort’s character, a skilled getaway driver with a love for music, in Baby Driver. His career also included roles in productions such as MacGyver, The School Duet, Genius, Found, and Legacies.
