The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government (KPK) has announced a public holiday on Muharram 1st to mark the day of martyrdom of Hazrat Umar Farooq (R.A).
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, chaired by Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman, will meet in Karachi on Sunday for sighting of Muharram ul Haram (1438 AH) crescent.
The announcement would be made by Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.

Umar (R.A) was one of the most powerful and influential Muslim caliphs in history. He became the second caliph after death of Hazrat Abu Bakar Siddique (R.A). Rallies are taken out and programs organized across the country to highlight the achievements of Hazrat Umar on the first of Muharram.
