The leading health experts have warned against the invasion of the Zika virus in Pakistan, saying that there is a serious threat of the spread of the contagion in the country.
Dr Muhammad Khalid, who heads the Washington chapter of Physicians for Social Responsibility, said climate change and poor sanitation could spread Zika epidemic in Pakistan.
The PSR group has won the Nobel Prize for its efforts to promote peace and also works to help raise global awareness on various issues.
Dr. Muhammad Khalid said there is no vaccine for Zika virus, therefore, creating awareness among the masses is essential.
The World Health Organization has declared the outbreak a global public health emergency, noting its association with two neurological disorders – microcephaly in babies and Guillain-Barre syndrome that can cause paralysis.
They also called upon the government to take necessary measures against Dengue virus immediately.
