Hamas has labelled remarks made by U.S. President Joe Biden regarding a ceasefire in Gaza as “misleading.” Biden, commenting on the ceasefire negotiations, stated, “Israel says they can work it out, they’re prepared. But I was told Hamas is now backing off.” This statement was made as he departed Chicago after his speech at the Democratic National Convention.
Hamas argues that Biden’s remarks distort their position, affirming their dedication to ceasing hostilities. They have raised concerns that the most recent proposal diverges from previously established agreements, blaming this change on new conditions set by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, which they claim are consistent with his aggressive strategies towards Gaza.
