The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) confirmed Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi leader Hafiz Naeemur Rehman as the elected representative for the Sindh Assembly seat PS-129, despite his resignation due to allegations of electoral fraud, as reported by ARY News.
Rehman secured victory in the election for PS-129, Karachi Central-VIII, as per the official ECP announcement.
Notably, Rehman had previously announced his departure from the seat, asserting that the victory tally of 30,464 votes was inaccurate compared to the 26,000 votes recorded on Form-45.
He claimed that an independent candidate, endorsed by PTI, received more votes. Motivated by concerns over the results’ legitimacy, Rehman resigned.
Subsequently, the PTI-endorsed candidate petitioned the Sindh High Court to affirm his victory for PS-129.
Saif Bari, the PTI-endorsed candidate, sought the court’s validation of the election results for PS-129.
His attorney informed the court that Bari was the legitimate victor of the constituency, as indicated on Form-45.
