Hafeezullah Khna Niazi, a GEO TV analyst and columnist for Daily Jang, tweeted an update about his son, Hassaan Khan Niazi, who is currently in custody.
Hafeezullah Khan Niazi reported that he had a meeting with his son and described Hassaan as being in good spirits and in good health. During his time in custody, Hassaan has made significant personal achievements, including nearing the completion of the first volume of Tafhim-ul-Quran, memorizing twenty surahs, and reading extensively, including three books on the life of the Prophet and numerous other texts.
The case involving Hassaan Khan Niazi, the nephew of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman, Imran Khan, will be trialled in a military court.
Hassaan was detained in Quetta and later moved to Rawalpindi for the proceedings. This move follows a Lahore High Court hearing concerning Hassaan’s recovery, during which the court demanded responses from the Inspector General, the Chief Capital City Police Officer (CCPO), and the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Sarwar Road Police Station by August 18. The court had ordered that Hassan be presented before it if he was in the custody of any of the aforementioned officials.
Hafeezullah Niazi, seeking his son’s release, had filed a petition in the Lahore High Court to have Hassan presented before the court. This legal action came shortly after Hassan was arrested on August 14 in Islamabad, following allegations of his involvement in the May 9 attack on Jinnah House.
