A man was shot dead during an armed robbery on Shahrah-e-Faisal Road, Karachi, while his colleague fled with half the looted money.
According to Tipu Sultan Police Station (SHO) Uzma Khan, two armed robbers, postered white collar, robbed a man after he withdrew Rs500,000 from the local bank.
According to eyewitnesses, as the victim resisted, the bandits opened fire, wounding the bank’s security guard Saleem Akhtar, who also opened fire at the robbers. After a cross-firing between the looters and the injured guard, the brave security guard managed to kill one of the muggers while the other managed to escape.
Police have recovered half of the money and weapons found beside the deceased thief.
Due to cross-firing between the robbers and the security guard, many vehicles parked were peppered with bullet holes.
SHO Uzma Khan claimed that the balance of the stolen money was likely taken by the road mugger’s partner. Police recovered three contemporary firearms on the dead robber.
The deceased has been identified as Kamil Ahmed, from Hasrat Mohani Colony. His body was taken to Jinnah Hospital.
