Former inspector Abid Boxer and three of his aides managed to break free from police custody by seizing government rifles.
Brief on the Incident
Shortly after being detained, Abid Boxer and his accomplices overpowered the on-duty officers, taking their weapons to aid in their escape. Before this breakout, the ex-inspector frequently issued threats to the police officers. He was initially apprehended with two bodyguards by the Lahore Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) and relocated to the Model Town police station.
Boxer’s Controversial Past
Abid Boxer began his career in the police force in 1988 as an assistant sub-inspector, eventually climbing the ranks to become an inspector. However, his controversial activities led him to flee the country, as multiple cases were registered against him. Known as an encounter specialist, he was later detained in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and deported to Pakistan with the assistance of Interpol in February of the previous year.
