Shumaila Sattar, a former Pakistani footballer, was recently detained about the violent events that transpired on May 9, including the attack on Jinnah House sent to jail.
Sattar was taken into custody during a police raid at her Lahore residence and remanded to judicial custody after her identification via geo-fencing.
Probing Vandalism and Arson
Following these events, the Punjab Home Department established five separate Joint Investigation Teams (JITs) tasked with investigating the instances of arson that occurred at Corp Commander House, or Jinnah House, in Lahore and the assault on Askari Tower.
The formed JITs are responsible for scrutinizing the incidents of destruction and arson within Lahore’s high-security zone. The teams are to look into the cases filed in various city police stations related to the attacks on military establishments.
JIT Details
One JIT, convened by Iqbal Town Superintendent of Police (SP) Investigation, Dr. Aqeela Niaz Naqvi, will investigate case FIR No.108/23, registered on May 13. City Division SP Investigation Dr. Raza Tanveer will convene two JITs.
The first, with five officers, will investigate case FIR No.1570/23, and the second, with four officers, will examine case FIR No.109/23.
Abdul Hanan, Sadar Division SP Investigation, will lead the fourth JIT, investigating case FIR No.1283/23. Finally, Lahore Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Investigation Dr. Anoosh Masood will lead the fifth JIT, investigating case FIR No.1271/23.
