A Fly Jinnah airline flight from Karachi landed at Lahore International Airport after smoke was detected in the aircraft’s cargo area following the landing; all passengers were safely evacuated using slides.
The incident occurred when smoke began emanating from the cargo hold, prompting the crew to execute an emergency landing. Upon touchdown, the aircraft’s doors were promptly opened, and passengers were evacuated without being allowed to retrieve personal belongings.
Airport officials had prepared for the emergency by positioning fire brigades and ambulances along the runway. The crew, facing considerable stress, continuously monitored air pressure and reported seeing smoke inside the cabin near seat number 3 before the plane landed.
The aircraft was under the command of a foreign pilot, whose adept handling of the situation was noted for professionalism. The flight was carrying 171 people, including crew members, all of whom were confirmed safe.
Authorities are currently investigating the source of the smoke in the cargo area and reviewing whether all appropriate safety measures were observed during the incident.
