A Nile Air Airbus A320, carrying 194 individuals, encountered a wheel system fire during takeoff from King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.

The incident was confirmed by local media, citing the National Transport Safety Center. Emergency response teams at King Fahd International Airport acted swiftly, extinguishing the fire and safely evacuating all 186 passengers and 8 crew members. Remarkably, no casualties occurred.

The event unfolded early Thursday morning as the aircraft prepared to travel to Cairo Airport. When the fire was detected, the flight crew promptly aborted the takeoff and initiated an evacuation using emergency slides.

Further details from the airport indicated that the fire occurred at 2:15 AM on July 18, 2024. Following the incident, airport operations, including takeoffs and landings, continued without disruption. An investigative team is currently examining the specifics and underlying causes of the fire.
