The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested a suspect in the murder of Maulana Azam Tariq from Islamabad airport.
Maulana Azam Tariq was shot dead in October 2003 on the outskirts of Islamabad while he was returning from Jhang.
The suspect has been identified as Sibtain Kazmi had a bounty of 1 million.
Sibtain Kazmi was attempting to board a UK-bound flight via Qatar Airline flight no. QR633.
Maulana Azam Tariq murder FIR No 119/2003 was lodged at PS Golra Islamabad. However, his name was not included in the Exit Control List.
Kazmi’s name appeared in the first edition of the Islamabad Police Criminal Investigation Department’s (CTD) Red Book in 2009.
Kazmi was an activist of Imamia Student Organisation. He hails from Sarghoda, but later on shifted to Jauhar Town Lahore. He had subsequently fled to London.
