In Karachi, a Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) team conducting a raid at a wedding hall was temporarily held hostage by the venue’s staff. FBR officials quickly responded to the scene and successfully negotiated the release of their colleagues.
Assistant Commissioner of the FBR Muhammad Hamza disclosed that the operation targeted a wedding hall on Dalmia Road that was suspected of underreporting income. Upon their arrival, the hall’s employees detained the enforcement team.
Upon learning of the incident, Hamza immediately went to the venue and initiated dialogue with the hall’s staff, which led to the early release of some team members.
Authorities alerted the police, although the staff continued resisting law enforcement efforts.
After several hours of negotiation, all detained FBR officers and staff were freed. Assistant Commissioner Hamza later clarified to Geo News that the confrontation stemmed from a departmental misunderstanding. He added that the wedding hall’s staff was summoned to the FBR office the following morning to address the issue comprehensively.
