Pakistani actress and model Faryal Mehmood, on After Hours” with Ushna Shah on 365 News, spoke about the late actress Roohi Bano, expressing a sense of relief upon hearing of Bano’s passing due to her long-term struggles with schizophrenia and other life challenges. Mehmood suggested that Bano’s death may have brought her peace.
Faryal discussed the profound impact the murder of Bano’s only son, Ali, had on her life, leaving her isolated and bereft of support. Roohi Bano spent her last days in Turkey with her sister, where she eventually passed away.
Despite holding a master’s degree in psychology and receiving a presidential award for her performance, Bano faced continuous personal turmoil. Mehmood pointed out that Bano’s appearance often seemed disorganized and reflected her mental state—yet her professional demeanour on set remained impeccable.
Roohi Bano was a prominent figure in the drama and film industry for three decades, appearing in notable works such as “Neelay Haath,” “Jazeera,” and “Kala Daira.” Her career was tragically overshadowed by personal tragedies, including the unresolved murder of her son in 2005, which precipitated her mental health decline, leading to a life marked by distress until she died in 2019.
