Netflix’s 1899 fans aren’t giving up easily after Netflix announces cancellation.

Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar announced the cancellation of the mystery thriller series on January 2, 2023.

“With a heavy heart, we have to tell you that 1899 will not be renewed; we would have loved to finish this incredible journey with a 2nd and 3rd season as we did with Dark. But sometimes, things don’t turn out the way you planned. That’s Life.” We know this will disappoint millions of fans out there. But we want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts that you were a part of this wonderful adventure. We love you. Never forget.”” the statement read.

Co-showrunners and executive producers Friese and bo Odar did not explain the cancellation.

Since Netflix’s announcement, hundreds of fans have signed a petition to keep the show.

A Change.org petition has 18,000 signatures in 17 hours, according to City A.M.

1899 was made for various reasons. Unfortunately, the first season ends on a cliffhanger with many unsolved questions. The petition requests a program renewal and a fitting ending.

In every Netflix social media post, fans demand the show’s return.
