The Sindh Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee convened today under Chairman Nisar Ahmed Khuhro. It focused on a comprehensive review of the Sindh Police accounts.
The session was attended by the Inspector General (IG) of Sindh, Ghulam Nabi Memon, alongside Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs), Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs), and other pertinent officials. A significant revelation from the meeting was the recruiting of 187 fictitious police personnel in Kashmore in 2018, who fraudulently withdrew salaries.
IG Sindh elaborated that the officers implicated in these fraudulent recruitments are incarcerated, with their cases pending before the Anti-Corruption Court. Chairman Khuhro emphasized that the committee would defer its decision until the court issues a verdict.

Additionally, concerns were raised about the legitimacy of the domicile of 55 officers who were inducted into the Sindh Police; discrepancies were noted between their identity cards and the districts listed as their places of origin. The committee has tasked IG Sindh with leading a thorough investigation into these discrepancies.
Another point of discussion was the allocation of the police budget for food and beverages, which had been noted for irregularities. IG Sindh argued against outsourcing food services through tenders, citing the need to provide prompt meals during critical deployments, which could hinder the protracted tendering process.
