An exhibition promoting the importance of public spaces in our daily lives through artworks made by children of different schools commences at VM Art Gallery on today.
It is an initiative taken by noted artists Shahana Rajani, Madiha Sikander, Sadia Jamal, Rabeya Jalil and Fahim Rao, sponsored by the Prince Claus Fund.
The standout feature of the show is the way groups of children have made maps of the localities they live in. They are an insightful reminder of the kind of society we’ve turned into.
The map that the students of B.F. Cabral Government Primary School, Lyari, have come up with strikes the viewer on two levels. One, it is suggestive of the kind of constructions that have consumed public spaces; two, it is indicative of how talented these young artists are.
