Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, recently delighted fans by posting an aerial photograph of Tesla’s headquarters in Texas on X, a social media platform he owns.
The image, taken in the morning, quickly went viral, amassing over 4.3 million views and captivating viewers with its breathtaking perspective.
In December 2021, Tesla announced the relocation of its corporate headquarters from Silicon Valley to a vast new facility in Austin, Texas, known as the “Gigafactory.” This move, officially declared in a filing with US securities regulators, marked a major shift from the company’s previous base in Palo Alto, California. Musk had first hinted at this change during Tesla’s annual meeting in October 2021.
Earlier this year, Tesla faced strategic challenges, including a reported 10% reduction in its global workforce due to declining sales and increasing competition in the electric vehicle market, according to a Reuters report citing an internal memo. Musk has emphasized the need for periodic organizational adjustments to support Tesla’s growth phases, stating on X, “About every five years, we need to reorganize and streamline the company for the next phase of growth.”
These strategic shifts coincide with a notable increase in the company’s workforce, which has grown from approximately 100,000 employees at the end of 2021 to over 140,000 by late 2023, as per regulatory filings.
