Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and PML-N President Nawaz Sharif chaired a meeting on Saturday to review the Solar Panel Financing Scheme, set to launch on August 14.
The Punjab government announced a scheme to provide solar panels in easy instalments to citizens consuming up to 500 units. During the meeting, CM Maryam Nawaz ordered the scheme’s simplification and directed the completion of necessary actions for its launch. Secretary Energy Naeem Rauf gave a detailed briefing.
A pilot project for the Chief Minister’s Solar Panel Financing Scheme has begun. Performance and readings of installed systems are monitored at various locations, and online monitoring via the Solar PV App is also underway.
The scheme will officially launch on August 14 after the success of the test run is reviewed. To check eligibility, citizens can send their bill reference and CNIC numbers to 8800. After the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) ballots, successful applicants will be notified via SMS. The district administration and DISCOs will verify their credentials.
In the first phase, over 100,000 citizens will receive solar panels through balloting. However, those involved in power theft, with multiple meters, damaged or tampered meters, or unpaid bills will not be eligible.
