The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued the definitive list of constituencies for the National Assembly (NA) and Provincial Assemblies (PA). Based on data from the 7th Population and Housing Digital Census 2023, this list comes ahead of the general elections. The finalized list includes 266 NA seats and 593 PA seats across Pakistan.

The detailed allocation of NA seats is as follows:

  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP): 45 seats
  • Balochistan: 16 seats
  • Islamabad (Federal Capital): 3 seats

For the Provincial Assemblies, the breakdown is as follows:

  • KP: 10 seats
  • Balochistan: 4 seats

Additionally, there are 10 reserved seats for minorities in the National Assembly.

Changes in Provincial Assembly Seats

The total Provincial Assembly seats (PA) amount to 749, with 593 general seats, 132 reserved for women, and 24 for minorities. The distribution among the provinces is:

  • Punjab Assembly: 371 seats (297 General, 66 Women, 8 Minorities)

Recently, the ECP responded to media reports speculating a delay in the general elections scheduled for February 8, 2023. The spokesperson denied these claims, labelling the reports as baseless and misleading. The commission has approached the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) against media outlets spreading false information. It is prepared to take legal action, including seeking transcripts and recordings for legal proceedings.
