The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) requested Rs47 billion funding to organize general elections.
In the current budget year, the election commission will receive Rs27 billion, although the ECP requested prompt disbursement of Rs18 billion for the preparations for the general elections.
The federal government will disburse about Rs20 billion to the ECP in the upcoming fiscal year. The federal government has authorized the budget for the upcoming general election.
On November 29, the Cabinet’s Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) authorized a technical grant for general elections for the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
According to sources, the electoral commission requested Rs47.42 billion from the government to prepare for the upcoming general election.
The ECP requested that the rationalized amount of Rs47.42bn be approved in advance and Rs31.42bn in the current fiscal year, and Rs16bn in the following fiscal year (2023-24).
The ECC did not allocate a substantial supplemental grant, although it did approve a partial sum to the electoral body.
